The Great Pyramid of Khufu (the Greek is Keops or Cheops, but as long as we are in Egypt, we might as well use the Egyptian name) is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Built of over two million blocks of limestone, this stunning architectural achievement is vast, amazing, overwhelming...The blocks at the base are as tall as... more

YOU MUST GO! Keep in mind: -opens at 8am, we got there at 7:40 to get in line for tickets (don’t let tourguides cut you in line since they are usually buying large amounts of tixs) -Go to the Great Pyramid first- less people to deal with and usually cooler. Security will not allow you to bring cameras inside so... more

The pyramids were magnificent! The only complaint I have is the surroundings. It’s just a dirt field with hazy sky and not as mysterious as I wished. The worst part is that you’re constantly bothered by pushy vendors that just won’t leave you alone no matter how polite or forceful you tell them “No Thanks”. Even the guards wanted tips... more

Amazing adventure to experience once in a life-time feeling!! I suggest a tour guide though. We had an amazing experience, except the only downfall was we didn't realize how close to civilization it actually was, and it was our first day in Egypt. We were under the impression we had to take a day long trip to get to the... more

This took my breath away. I have seen pictures all my life of the Pyramids but to see them in real life is truly amazing. When the people come up to you to sell things just keep walking and say "No Thank You." and they will leave you alone. Just do not stop walking and never take anything out of... more

There are 97 known big pyramids in Egypt (plus many smaller ones for wives and children). What makes the Giza Pyramids different? The size of the Giza Pyramids cannot be appreciated unless you have visited them but it is not the size that makes them one of the 7 wonders of the world. It is the mystery which surrounds them.... more

Went to the pyramids in December 07. Takes about 2 hours across Cairo from the airport in the worst traffic I've ever seen. When you get near you can see the pyramids from a few miles off and you start to get excited. As you get closer they get more spectacular. We went into the tomb of the "capped" pyramid... more

I took my 6 year old to the Pyramids last year and she loved it. However i must mention that the camel riding is not up to par with the setting. Our guide left us to negotiate with the herder without much warning of what to expect.. Kickback...? There are signs telling that the "official" price is minimal, like $2-$3,... more

What can you say when you stand in front of the pyramids - truly awesome sight. Just a word of warning though be very careful of offers to ride camels etc. They use intimidation and threats to extort money out of you. three members of our tour group had bad experiences. If you must , negotiate a reasonable price first... more
