I read several reviews of the solar boat before we left for Egypt. It wasn’t on our original tour schedule, but our guide took us there and I’m really glad we saw it. It’s a very interesting story of the excavation and restoration of this ship. Nicely set up to see various views of the boat and it’s a calm,... More

We spent about an hour in the Boat Museum. The entry fee isn't bad, so that's not a factor. There wasn't much to see, but my young boys loved it. It's pretty much a handful of ropes, tools, etc., which lead up to the main reason you're there ~ the Pharaoh's boat. If you're already at the Pyramids, it's worth... More

Unbeilievable. A boat more than 4500 years old has been actually re assembled. Original ropes. Twines, meshes, oars etc still preserved. One can but just awe at it

The solar boat, its discovery, and its restoration are totally amazing. For those reasons, a look at the boat if you at Giza is a must. Plus the muesum is air-conditioned and has a useful WC. But the object itself is only worth ten minutes look, although maybe a bit more if you are a sailor.

The history of this artefact is really it's appeal so have a look at the story boards as you enter the museum and before you go see the boat - amazing how well preserved it is and how someone dedicated so long rebuilding it.

...Left breathless by the Grandeur of the Great Pyramid towering above the odd looking building housing the Solar Boat. First you see the pits that once accomodated the vessels that Pharoah and his entourage would sail across the heavens, accompanying Amen- Ra, then the immense blocks of granite that enclosed the pits... ...Into the Museum, slipping on the canvas shoe... I am a Naval Architect. A person designed many well known ships. Walking around this boat, told me that we didn’t make too big progress in the ship building and naval architecture compared to pharaoh times. All the principles are same. All.. It is amazing museum and amassing discovery. A real, whole boat is there. Boat used by ancient Egyptians.... More

We had seen the museum before and just thought why would anyone place such a bad building next to the Pyramids. This time we went in to have a look. It is the first time i have ever bought a ticket to a museum with just one thing on display. Stunning is the only thing to say about it. The... More

Boat is great. The let-down is that the building its in is dated. If a little larger the view of the vessel would be uninterrupted whereas now you are a little too close at times. Worth seeing tho
