This Mosque is really beautiful and has a great view. I had a private guide bring me through it. You must remove your shoes before entering. Rich in history.

This should be on your list of places to see when touring Cairo. Beautiful interior decor and grand exterior facade. Standard rules apply when visiting the mosque and woman must bring appropriate attire. Having a guide explain the history will make the trip more memorable.

If you have the time, get up to the Mohamed Ali Mosque. Great view of Cairo, if the air is clean. The mosque is part of a military fortress.

By the standards of the Pyramids etc, this is a very pedestrian attraction in Cairo. However, it is worth visiting to admire the beautiful architecture and the lovely alabaster carvings.

This mosque is a key site in Cairo, and is not to be missed! Take note- shorts are not permitted inside, and if you're a woman, you must cover your arms and chest. I brought a large scarf to cover up with, and it served me well. They also make you leave your shoes at the door, so get ready... More

This Mosque complex is huge. Originally built by Mohamed Ali (not the boxer) as a statement, it still delivers. Cleaning of the wonderful alabaster walls has commenced though much work is required to repair windows, lights etc. Apart from the amazing mosque (and you must go inside - the tomb is in there too) which is calm and peaceful, there... Definitely a must see in Cairo on a clear day. Not only are the mosque and the citadel beautiful, but the view is incredible. You can see the pyramids in the distance!
