This review is quite late. The Virgin's Tree is something special because it is here where the Blessed Virgin Mary took shade during a brief stopover from their long journey. Although the tree is actually dead and only its wooden remain is all that is left it is still a significant site especially to Christians.

I was surprised that there was an entry fee of LE15 just to look at an old tree, but it is a nice quiet haven in an otherwise busy suburb. Easy to get to from Matariya Metro station, just take a tuktuk, ask for Shagaret Maryam, or combine it with a visit to the obelisk.
