If going to Saqqara do it before seeing the "big" traditional sites such as the Giza pyramids, Abu Simbel and tmples such as Edfy and Karnak. Amazing views and opportunities to ride on a camel or a horse drawn buggy. Must see in Cairo. Well worth a trip. Avoid the traders by not speaking to them and wear sunglasses to avoid eye contact! More

It is the first pyramid built by king Djoser... It's 60LE entrance fee but students get a discount.. Also do remember there are many other tombs nearby n don forget to visit them... The step pyramid is so different from the others one associates with Cairo and well worth a visit. There is a nearby temple to be seen with a museum and its a very nice visit for those interested / There is a government run coffee shop and the english cake is good and there are good toilet facilities too.
