I have friends that live here and it is a beautiful part of Cairo. You must try their sugar cane drink. It is delicious. It is always fun to walk and shop in this area!

See some interesting churches without the hassles of most Egyption tourist areas. Several churches and a museum in the same area make this a different and pleasant day out in Cairo.

Old City is one of the most quiet places in Cairo. You can see many Coptic churches, you can buy christian icons, books etc... You will not meet there all these annoying street vendors...
In the beginning we were not so much in favour of visiting this part of Cairo, but now after we have seen the hanging church we must admit that Coptic Cairo plays an important role for the daily live of the Egyptians. Yes, a must see!
I explored Coptic Cairo on foot-- it was pretty quiet and the Greek cemetary outside Mare Gerges was a nice place to wander around. Parts of Cairo are hectic and loud-- this is a quiter, older section to explore.
