Worst review I have written. Total disappointment. Disjointed presentation of their rich and varied history. Each room had side areas with additional information but they were roped off. This museum helps you to realize how well all the other museums you have visited were presented.

More than likely, you will visit the Mohamed Ali Mosque at the Citadel while in Cairo, so you should visit the Military Museum as well, since they are within the some complex. From the outside, the red stone coloured building looks more like a railway station, so the interior was a real surprise. The decor is compatible with a small... More

This is a huge museum and is said to be the largest military museum world wide. It has some very interesting displays, and it is well maintained. Make it part of your visit to the Citadel.

The military Museum along with Panorama October war, can make you imagine how the Egyptian army was able to defend the Egyptian land. And since it is placed in the citadel it add another attraction to the citadel

This museum occupies what was once Muhammad Ali's harem palace, which makes the building itself somewhat interesting. The quality of exhibits is variable. There are some interesting collection of artifacts here and there (e.g. uniforms, medals, weapons), but many exhibits display only models or reproductions of weapons from various eras of Egypt's history (from Pharaonic to modern) which are not... At the Mohammed Ali Mosque and Citadel of Salah Din. Take a whole day here if you can, all the weaponry, aircraft etc on full display. Also the police museum on site! Full day out - very humble money, clean cafeteria on site.

Come here for an understanding of the central position of the military in Egypt. Don't expect a balanced unbiased point of view nor anything before the Arab invasion of 7th Century. A lot of effort is spent trying to impress.

not much to see, military personnel who are in the museum are not very friendly and they were just talking to themselves loudly, thinking they have all the privileges in the world. The museum guys who are in every room in the museum are actually friendly and helpful. If you want to go, make sure you have nothing else to... More
