Khan El-Khalili is often dismissed as a tacky tourist trap but we really enjoyed it. The shop keepers have to be the smoothest talkers around ("I don't know what you want but I have what you're looking for" was my favourite) and there wasn't the hassle that we'd been warned about. Located in Islamic Cairo this place is a must see. We were told it was a tourist trap and that you will not find any bargains. This is definately something to do while in Cairo, but expect mostly tourist items. The vendors will try to get te best price out of you (see the other reviews & articles about haggling), & may even offer marriage proposals.
