Every turn in Khan Al-Khalili is a delightful surprise even if some of the wares are repetitive. Each shop and salesperson is unique. It's true that it can be over-stimulating and confusing, but for me that is part of the fun. There are fascinating things to buy that you really don't need and many are pretty poor quality. I cherish... more

Khan al-Khalili bazaar is an ancient warren of alleyways and streets packed with vendors and shops selling all manner of wares. Whatever you might want is there and if you don't see it, your vendor will bring you to his 'brother' or 'uncle' or 'cousin'. It's all part of the fun. By the time of my visit to the bazaar,... more

Despite there being a wide variety of interesting things to buy there, I did not enjoy the experience. I found the people were incredibly pushy - some actually grabbed our arms to try and get us in their shop. They were nice people, but would not leave you alone! I would have liked to have been able to look at... more

Wow! What an experience! A visit to Cairo is not comeplete without a visit to the ancient bazar of Khan Al-Khalili. You must be prepared to enter with an open mind and not get too worried about the number of pushy vendors. Have a laugh and a joke with them. Smile! Have fun! Honestly, it is a shoppers paradise. Theres... more

We went to the Khan as part of our guided tour with Rasha. At first we were worried about the amount of hassle we were going to get and having a 7 year old in tow worried us more. After 10 minutes of finding our feet we were loving the experience. Everybody was so friendly and the bargains are there... more

It is a maze of vendors, stalls and sellers. The Egyptians are amongst the most aggressive salespeople I have ever met. It was hard to adjust to bargaining, and honestly became very annoying, as you are bombarded as you walk past each stall. We found that by knowing what we would pay in USD in our minds before asking the... more

If u wanna get a cab and not being cheated too much I recommend you to catch a yellow taxi (they are all painted yellow). These ones use a meter and the ride ends up being way expensive than bargaining. for example a yellow cab from City stars to the market was 15 EP (about 2 eur). And for the... more

Yesterday I was in Khan Khalili with two friends, it was their first time to be at the market, they were expecting to be hassled at lot, but were surprised at how it had been a fun experience and they felt that most venders were quite pleasant. For shopping it is good to know what your are looking for and... more
