For my birthday I chose to take the Ghost Tour (Dark Side of Seoul) and dragged along 7 family and friends. Lets just say that it was one of the best evenings out we have had as a group in Seoul. Joe McPherson is engaging, funny and super knowledgeable about Seoul, its history and its quirks. He stopped when we... More

We took ZenKimchi's Dark Side of Seoul (Extended) tour on our last night in Seoul, a 2.5-hour plan that ended up being more like 3.5. We traipsed all over the center of the city, took a break for street cocktails, walked and walked some more, stumbled upon the huge celebration of Buddha's birthday, and ended with a quiet rest on... We did 2 of the zenkimchi tours. Groovy Hongdae, and the darkside of Seoul were both very enjoyable and everyone seemed to have a good time. The guides were knowledgeable and very friendly.

My husband and I had the luxury of a whole day in Seoul with Joe and we had a ball! We booked a private tour for our first day in the country, so we could orientate ourselves and immediately start to build our knowledge of and confidence with Korean food. Joe was punctual, informative, friendly and fun! We travelled around... More

That was an amazing day! We may just revive the fish market tour based on that experience. More

So Joe not only took us to some fabulous places to eat (places you may just walk by unless you knew better) and ordered tasty food at every stop, but he also has great stories to share and is up for anything you are up for. Our group ended up stopping in at a near by Kareoke place for some... More

I love doing extras. It's really about meeting and having fun with interesting people. We tend to have the best guests on our tours. That was a great evening. More

Can't say enough about Joe and this great tour. Setting it up was no problem and the food, atmosphere, everything was fantastic. Seoul is massive and can be overwhelming so some guidance is a must. The night I went out with Joe was definitely my best night in Seoul. Make sure you're hungry and be careful with the soju!

The owner of this tour was good about communication when setting the tour up and even when there may have been time issues while we were in Korea. We were the first tour of this season and it was quite cold outside, we knew it would be going into this though. He spent most of the time walking around in... More

Thank you for the feedback. I was substituting for the regular tour guide that evening and had no time to scout the usual places beforehand. That's what's so great about that area. It's constantly changing, so it's one of the more challenging tours to maintain. Our style is also very flexible, so we try new things with guests if they... More

This is an amazing tour. Joe, the guide, is full of information and is more than willing to share about the history and his research and how they find things. The entire tour was both spooky and hysterical. The time flies and i could listen to him tell stories for hours. It's definitely worth it to take the extended tour... More

If you enjoy good food and want to learn about eating habits and table manners in korea, it's the ideal solution. You spend the evening walking from one restaurant to the next, tasting different dishes (barbecue, vegetable pancakes, cold buckwheat noodles) and chitchatting. I had a great time. Thanks again Joe.
