You only pass in front of the gate and the wall surrounding the house. Since it is a private residence, there is no entry to house but the barbed wire on the top of the wall appears to be in pristine condition!

Should the government continue towards a change to a more democratic and free Myanmar, this site will become an important historical sight. Daw Suu Kyi spent the better part of 20 years in and out of house arrest. Currently you can only view from a distance, and when I was there a military (may have been police) presence still existed... You can only drive past the house - you cannot go in (naturally!), so in reality you can just see the front gate.

This is not really an attraction. But if you walk beside the lake near the hotel you can see the famous house in the distance. I did not bother to go to the front gate which is locked anyhow and not open to visitors.

In fact, you only can see the fence, and the gate with the party flags and some posters. Then, you can imagine, from what you have read, the speeches and all the normal people attending there and waiting, and supporting all the speeches...

Adjacent to the US embassy, Aung San Suu Kyi's home should be a historic landmark. A tribute to courage, to non-violent protest, and her enduring strength to guide her nation through many troubled years.

A relatively short distance from the U.S. Embassy, you can now make a pilgrimage to Burma's most noteworthy freedom champion without being turned away by the government/military. Of course, use common sense and respect Aung San Suu Kyi's privacy, but you can view her house from a distance and get your photo. Ironically, I was unable to photograph the U.S.... More

All you can see is the solid gate and high walls. Good for a quick drive by but nothing to really see!

We only drove past this house slowly, but awesome to know that such an amazing Lady spent so much time here under house arrest.. In Yangon it is easy to hire a driver for the day who will take you here and to other interesting sites.
