This is a old and interesting Pagoda in the centre of a roundabout. Positives include the juxtaposition of old world against the new(ish) city, LED decorations vs ancient statues, history. Negatives are some pushy hawkers who try to force small birds into your hands which you then have to buy. Locals buy them to release to gain merit, but the... More

Compering it to other sights its very average, good to see from the outside and take pictures. No need to go inside as no singes in English and not much to see. Also the government staff working there and charging foreigners 2$ even after dark is very rude! We heard them say "get out", where next to it there was... More

We stayed in Sule Paya road, and even though I had read about this Paya, it's location still astonished me! It is definitely worth the $2 to go inside...it has a much more friendly "feel" than the huge Shwedagon Paya. Great night photos from the pedestrian walkway in Sule Paya Road.

Not only a great landmark to get your bearings from, the Sule Paya is an impressive structure in its own right. Set in the middle of a busy roundabout, the Paya sits at the cross section of different areas of downtown Yangon. Not only a must-see ... it's a sure-to-be-seen!!

Its temple, so you expect the mood, the peace. But you wont get it. After you pay 2 USD fee, there is still "shoe money" (fee for watching your shoes) request. they try to sell you little birds to let it free, I felt so sorry for them. Not much to see inside and it felt like trainstation not a... More

It has a good location, but foreigners need to pay a fee when visiting. Upon claiming back your shoes, they would request that you pay addition $x. The shape of the pagoda is octagon. The Buddhas are all beautifully painted just like the ones in the other pagodas.

It' a LARGE temple, on a LARGE traffic island, reached by a footbridge over the extremely busy roads that surround it. A very attractive site, and surprisingly peaceful, given its situation. Lots of small shrines and stupas around the main one, which is gilded and 150 feet tall.

Located, as it is, essentially on the middle of a large traffic island, the Sule Paya feels remarkably isolated inside, and is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Yangon. There is, though, not that much to actually see inside, and since it's difficult to get any distance between you and the structure whilst inside the complex, decent... More

Worth a visit (once you have taken your life in your hands to cross the roads which surround it - it's in the middle of a roundabout). Enjoy the little shrines scattered around the base of the main stupa and around the outside. Not as impressive as the Shwedagon if you only have time for one, but if you are... More

It's nice, but not much to see. The roundabout itself is also interesting. The people around will take you shoes to "take care off" and you can decide what you want to pay, but if you don't want to pay a lot, because you didn't actually want the to watch your shoes, they will really try to rip you off....
