We went to the karaweik hall on the last night off our trip, it looked stunning, you were meet with a lovely welcome as you entered, all the staff were wearing traditional dress. The meal is a buffet style with lots of choice. The show is very good lots of traditional dance, music and puppets, the costumes were fabulous. The... More

Priced at 20,000kyats (USD25) for a reasonably good buffet dinner, performances lasted 3 hours from 6.30pm so it was quite a value for money experience. Good place to catch the sunset would be by the lake outside Karaweik. More

This is about the only place in Rangoon to see a cultural show, so from that aspect, it's nice to have it. Unfortunately, the food is poor and the hall-like set up the same. More

Went there mid-july 2011. Very impressive building: looks like a ship, but is actually made with concrete. Very nice from both, outside and inside where it can be described as luxury. It lays in a small park, so you have first to pay an entrance fee to the park (300 kyat per person – about 40 cents US). There is... More

This is probably the most spectacular restaurant building I've ever seen. A pair of giant golden ducks support an opulent pagoda on their backs. The restaurant is in an upscale park in Yangon. The park, it should be noted, has many very good open-air restaurants, but the Karaweik Hall is where to go for entertainment. The interior consists of two... More
