It's true that if you want to visit these magnificent creatures the most accessible destination is to visit Rwanda. There are the most families, there is the best infrastructure.
But if you're looking for an alternative, you can have a try in DRC.
Of course, you need to check the security situation, and of course the roads are terrible beyond...

My partner and I visited the gorillas in 1990 in the then Zairean side of the Vurungas. It was an experience I will never forget. These wonderful animals need as much help as possible to survive.
