Great place to visit for if you want to snorkel. Didn't make the Island night but I heard a lot of people who did thought it was great. The cost to go there for a day visit was fair and the underwater post office was quite cool.

Brilliant snorkelling in a marine reserve. Close to town and you can team it up with visits to other nearby attractions

Wow what a Beautiful Marine Reserve, we did a day trip to Hideaway Island, to post a card to our Grandaughter in the underwater post box, also to enjoy the fabulous snorkelling just off the beach. Hideaway is just a small barge trip from the mainland (few minutes) the barge trip is free but you pay a fee to enter... More

This is a marine reserve but the snorkling is fairly average. More of a tourist trap than anything. We visited late in the day and I got the feeling that as long as we paid our money that was all that mattered. We didn't have to pay to get to Erakor Island and the service and facilities there were far... More

I had never been snorkeling before and came to Vanuatu with basic mask and snorkel ready to give it a try. At Hideaway Island Marine you could snorkel straight off the beach which suited me as I am not a strong swimmer. You will need reef shoes or flippers as the beach is coral not sand. I saw beautiful tropical... More

Well worth a visit. It was quiet the day we visited which made it even more pleasurable for us. No cruise liner in harbour so no extra tourists. Snorkelling was lovely. Beautifully coloured fish and coral. Water pleasant. We didn't venture too far out. Had lunch there. Good food and fair price as well. Snorkelling gear, kayaks, dive gear all... More

We headed over to Hideaway for the day from Port Vila. Flag down a minibus (300 vatu each way per person), free ferry across the bay and then you pay to get onto the island itself (1200 vatu each adult). Take snorkel gear and reef shoes if you have them (you can hire but its 600 vatu for mask/snorkel and... More

2 weeks at Hideaway, leaving totally relaxed. No more driving holidays for us. Everything is here. The best snorkeling/diving, swimming, kayaking or just relaxing at the beach bar, our favorite place in the evening. We will be back soon. Peter and Lealey.
