Had the best time here. Snorkelled and had a great lunch. Even though it was overcast, we had a lovely time here. Relaxing and enjoyable!!
The trip to hideaway island is enjoyable, their is a free ferry, but then when you arrive their is a $15.00 as entry to the island. Their is an underwater post office, you can buy a special postcard, write on it and then dive down to post it. The postman is their between 12pm and 1pm. But you can post... More
This was only a short trip from Benjor Beach Club where we were staying and excellent snorkelling. Caught a little ferry over - watching the local kids dving off the jetty seriously cute!
Beautiful spot but alas the day I went it was over-run by a cruise ship of Australian tourists, most with at least two children each who ran around screaming "chips".... definitely worth a visit for the snorkeling.
Great snorkelling, saw incredible range of fish close to shore, though for the more adventurous if you want to venture a little further out, you will be blown away with the fish which are there, especially around the time that the glass bottom boat tour is operating which also is excellent.
Just as in Melissa H's review, we caught a local bus from Mangoes to Hideaway Island ferry for 300 vt each. Ferry is from Mele, which is Vanuatu's largest village - lots of activity here and there is a good food and drink venue (from reports we got later) adjacent to the jetty. Ferry crossing is free and takes just... More
We caught a bus to the ferry for 200 vatu each and spent a relaxing day snorkelling and chilling out at the beach. This would be great for families and pleanty of food and drink available for a reasonable price. I would recommend doing this over going to the over priced Mele waterfall.
This is an excellent, easy to get to spot for relaxing and snorkeling. As soon as you step into the water you are amongst the fish and coral. The water is crystal clear (even on a cloudy day) and the colours of the fish and coral are amazing. Once again the people here are always smiling and friendly which gives... More
It is a short ferry ride over to the island (very scenic on a glorious day!) and then you pay to access the island, 1000vt per person, this covers the ferry ride across as well. The snorkelling was amazing and we were able to hire the snorkelling equipment there,1000vt each, it was a short wait for this (enough time to... More
