We have been here once before & despite cyclone Pam, it was just as great as we remembered. This would have to be one of the best & most accessible places to snorkel that I have ever been to. We loved it, the kids loved it & the fish life is beautiful. Worth a trip.

Visited Hideaway Island 4 weeks after the cyclone hit. Still great snorkeling right off the beach. Unfortunately the storm took the underwater post office out but the post box is still there. Plenty of fish around but the coral had been damaged. Was only about 10 tourists there so we virtually had the place to ourselves. Enjoyed a Thai chicken... More

Family really enjoyed their day trip to hideaway island. One month after cyclone Pam, reef was ok and although facilities are damaged there was food and services available and they had a good day.

The snorkelling here is quite honestly second to none. The number of fish, and the amount of species is incredible.

The people are sensational. Vanuatu is very expensive for a holiday so be prepared. Don't try to do too much but the volcano tour on Tanna is essential.

Absolutely amazing place. We went on the glass bottom boat which was awesome to see all the gorgeous fish that we would soon be snorkelling with. Im not much of a confident swimmer but had an awesome time snorkelling for a long time seeing the gorgeous coral and thousands of fish! Definitely coming back here again! Yummy lunch there too.

Hideaway Island is a great place to visit and get away from the hustle of Port Vila. Snorkeling is great ( better than my experience to Great Barrier Reef off Cairns) with plenty of fish to view in crystal clear warm water. All snorkelling gear is available for hire and for the more adventurous scuba equipment is also available. The cafe... More

We visited the Island as day travellers. Had a lovely lunch and a couple of drinks, and then snorkelled and swam for a couple of hours. Very enjoyable and the staff were so nice.

Well worth the short trip out to hideaway by taxi. Great snorkelling (take reef shoes as it is hard to walk on the coral beach - available in Port Vila for about $10 AU). For the kids the underwater post office is a thrill as well. Food available on the island but can be a bit expensive. You can take... More

Easily the best snorkeling in the vicinity of Vila. Make sure you go to the coral for the best experience, don't just stay in the open water. Can go out over the coral at both high tide and low tide and have very different experiences. At low tide, you'll probably need fins thought as can get very shallow.
