Beautiful

We visited the Island as day travellers. Had a lovely lunch and a couple of drinks, and then snorkelled and swam for a couple of hours. Very enjoyable and the staff were so nice.

Well worth the short trip out to hideaway by taxi. Great snorkelling (take reef shoes as it is hard to walk on the coral beach - available in Port Vila for about $10 AU). For the kids the underwater post office is a thrill as well. Food available on the island but can be a bit expensive. You can take... More

Easily the best snorkeling in the vicinity of Vila. Make sure you go to the coral for the best experience, don't just stay in the open water. Can go out over the coral at both high tide and low tide and have very different experiences. At low tide, you'll probably need fins thought as can get very shallow.

I liked the snorkelling as that is what I went for. The food on the island was very reasonably priced too.

Just a tourist trap... Boiling hot ... Coral no better than at our resort. Don't bother. Food was ok but just a lot of people on a small beach that's cordened off so you can't eveon walk around the island.

Was looking to snorkell off the beach, can see some fish and coral, there is cafe to get food and drink. Ok if you are not too fussy.

When we got on the boat over to the island and it was free were a bit shocked and then when we arrived we learnt that you actually had to pay to get on there we were shocked again. We had a nice light lunch at the Beach Bar then went snorkelling to see the 'famous' underwater post office. The... More

Best place to go snorkelling. The Snorkelling safari tour was awesome plenty too see, heaps of neat fish and coral. Glass bottom boat was pretty neat. Bring beach shoes as coral on beach is sharp an a underwater camera.

Hideaway island is just a short bus ride from Port Vila. It is a very short ferry ride from the Efate. Once on Hideaway Island it is necessary to pay a fee of 1250 VUV's per adult to enter the Island. There are change rooms and a restaurant next to the beach as well as rental for snorkeling gear.
