Nice ferry trip there and back. Lunch really great. Entertainment was fun. Saw a few snakes (no problem). Fantastique snorkeling. Glass bottom boat was brilliant! (take your snorkeling gear on this) - Remora look like little sharks :-) French only commentary. Day went really quick, plenty to do (e.g. lighthouse, shop, walking around the island). Can't recommend this enough -... More

Great little island not far from Noumea. A bit touristy - bit boatloads of tourists go over everyday, do a glass bottomed boat tour and then a kind of tacky touristy lunch and singing performance. But if you're going diving there is a great dive company that operates from this island. More

We did the tour of Amedee, we found the lighthouse very good, and the island was smaller than expected, but the beach goes right round the island so it was easy to find a section of beach that you could have to yourself. We did manage to see a few of the famous sea snakes. I had one have a... More

Amedee Island is 45 minutes offshore from Noumea (Moselle boat harbor) and is serviced by the Mary D organization which runs two well appointed, high speed cruisers and the island. It has a historic lighthouse which was at one time run by the same person for 77 years. Today it is solar powered. Bookings can be made by internet or... More

The boat ride to the island, along with time to chill on the white sandy beach and spotting the odd sea snake was a perfect thing to do on our venturing out of Noumea for day trips. The trip was a bit crowded, especially on the boat, but it was easier to get a bit of space when we got... More

This is a lovely day out to see the fabled sea snakes, the lighthouse close up and sample the fabulous lunch and watch a thoroughly entertaining show. There is a short snorkelling trip from Amedee in the afternoon. My partner went on this and as he entered the water his wedding ring came off (2 - 3 metres deep). On... More
