Not crowded, nice eating place at hotel, a small boutique shop or like us we went via private launch, picniced, swam and snorkelled as there are many large turtles to be seen in the deeper water. There were many couples whom we spoke to who came for the individual huts that were over the water and you walked on own... More

This was a day where we took Jonathan snorkelling,we went to port Moselle to take the small boat that would take us to the small Island ilot maitre , the cost inclusive of the buffet for one adult and one child is 12,000 pacific francs .Unfortunately there isn't much to see as the coral is dead due to the trampling... Was not really worth the trip, Duck Island was way better. Having said that we were hoping for a snorkelling experience. Seemed that the Kite surfers had an absolute ball. The snorkelling was very average, we not much to see. Having said that we did see two turtles and a ray. But the underwater life was far less than Duck... More

Went here on a day trip by boat. The price was only $80 australian and that included a smorgasbord meal. Normally I do not like smorgasbord meals, this was worth the $80......... Delicious!!!!!!! There is a beautiful pool to laze or you can take a swim and have a drink by the pool in the bar. We walked around the... More

Visitors on day trips using the ferry could snorkel with turtles and enjoy the delightful small island beaches too. Turtles in greatest numbers on side away from the jetty.

we took a day trip via ferry to island. Not much to do but sit by the pool and read a book. food and drinks a little pricey for us. A beautiful view to the mainland. There are activities for the young and healthy.

very nice island, comfy rooms, beautiful views but crappy food (a buffet and expensive). you can rent a kayak and there are lots of turtles around the island. Beautiful.

located just in front of noumea city, this tiny island, easily reachable from the city by boat taxi, is the right place if you wanna spend a few hours completely relaxing yourself and escaping from the city

We had an enjoyable short trip to the island. We spent the whole afternoon sunbathing and we ate at the hotel. The buffet wasn't impressive but it's definitely good value.

We decided to go a little further than Duck Island so paid the ferry man about A$15 each to take us to Maitre. It leaves about every 30 minutes. We were intending to just have a few beers and relax and have a bite to eat and return at pickup time at 3:30. My friends got very excited by the... More
