Heaps of fish

1200 xpf for a round trip by water taxi. Well worth if you snorkel and see the vast variety of fish. If you don't snorkel then avoid the trip.

Just been on a 7 day pacific island cruise and one of the shore trips was in Noumea I had been before and was not impresses with Noumea but others with me had not been there so we all got on the hop on hop off bus for a sightseeing trip $15 a person and good value. Takes about 40... More

A small boat ride, like three minutes from the shore, takes you to this small island, a pearl in the middle of the ocean. In five minutes, you can have a whole view of the place, that is really wild, as no electric power and running water is available. A small restaurant and bar is open while tourists are there,... We did the day trip out here on our last day. We wished we'd done this earlier as we'd have spent more time on this amazing little piece of paradise. This is a must do day trip!

I had one of the most amazing experiences snorkelling at Ile aux Canards. I took a taxi boat to the island (5 minute ride) for 1500 return and rented snorkelling equipment on the island. There are buoys marking the reef area. My first day I saw a turtle about 3 feet big and my second day I saw a shark... More

We decided not to make the trip out to Amedee Island, as we thought it could end up being a very boring day (we are not 'sit around the beach for 12 hours' kind of people). The water taxis across run every 10 minutes and is a very reasonable $13AUD return. Once on the island we rented 3 sun lounges... More

We caught the water taxi over to duck island for a few hours to do a bit of snorkeling. There are lounges and umbrellas set up around the beach which looks lovely and inviting. There were 6 of us so we chose out lounges and got settled. A local approached and asked us to pay for the lounges which was... More

Only a short water taxi trip to excellent snorkeling. Take extra money to buy shade and a chair, you are not really catered for, if you just want to sit on the beach for free. Lots of coral and fish to see, a must do activity in Anse Vata if you snorkel. Believe all the other reviewers, it is all... More

This is an easy access paradise if you're staying in Noumea. It's a beautiful place to relax, read, sunbath & snorkel all day. The water is crystal clear and warm. The Taxi Boats from Ansa Vata beach are your transport. I recommend the glass bottom boats at the far north end of the beach. In April '15 they cost XPF1000... More

I expected this to be an absolute tourist trap, but it was really good. The reef is breathtaking and is full of fish that you generally only see at an aquarium. There is only one restaurant/bar on the island too but that was also priced in line with the main island. We had a really good day and would recommend... More
