Every single place in the shade is occupied by expensive to rent deck chairs and umbrellas. Otherwise there is some really beautiful snorkeling spots

Has a self guided swim out the front of the island. Can snorkel between the buoys to view colourful fish and coral. Easy to reach from Anse Vata on water taxi- 5 mins across. Lots of Loungers, but yes you need to pay for them, as others have mentioned. Weather wasn't great the day I visited- so not many folk... More

A short water taxi ride from the beach, about 10 minutes (cost about $15 per person). Good snorkeling with a route marked by buoys. Limited food on offer. Sun beds available and snorkeling equipment too, quite expensive though. A lovely island and worth a visit.

Was recommended by heaps of people to go her for awesome snorkelling. Petty cheap trip over and lots of different sea life to see but wasn't super clear water.

Our last full day in Noumea and the weather was perfect so we took the water taxi to the Island 1200CHF return per person, hired a couple of beach lounges 1500 CHF per person and snorkeling gear 1000CHF per person per hour so relatively cheap by Noumea standards. Hard to believe this Island is only 5 mins from Ansa Vata.... More

About 5 mins one way by glassbottom boat to the duck island. (where you get on the boat is opposite the aquarium, across the street) Only 1000XFP for a return trip and you can come back anytime you want. Very clean beach with plenty of seats in shade. When we got there, we chose the side of the island that... More

We just visited Noumea for the third time in a year on a cruise. We booked at the Ferry Terminal where the cruise ships drop you off. This, together with the 'drop on, drop off' bus ticket was A$30, far cheaper than booking it on board ship! The 'drop on drop off bus' is well worth it in itself (A$15)... More

A small boat ride, like three minutes from the shore, takes you to this small island, a pearl in the middle of the ocean. In five minutes, you can have a whole view of the place, that is really wild, as no electric power and running water is available. A small restaurant and bar is open while tourists are there,... We did the day trip out here on our last day. We wished we'd done this earlier as we'd have spent more time on this amazing little piece of paradise. This is a must do day trip!
