We went here for a few hours a nd stayed all day. The snorkeling is amazing!! Lots of fish and Corel. Will keep you busy for hours. We got there early and got a nice spot in the shade although it was not that busy. Bring a nice pack lunch and enjoy.

We loved our day trip across to duck island. The boat leaves regularly from Anse Vata and was not too expensive- I think it was about $10pp return. We then hired some loungers with an umbrella for the day- this wasn't cheap but was well worth it. We went over early in the day so got the pick of the... More

A 5 buoy snorkelling route with underwater placards explaining what you are seeing...fabulous coral and fish, and only a 5 minute water taxi ride. If you arrange the visit yourself, take a chilli bin and snacks, or cold beers, and be prepared for hire costs of everything else...

The island is hyped up quite a lot, but if you are going there to do more than just chilling out on the beach or snorkeling then you are probably better off staying in noumea! The snorkel was ok, we actually saw more fish and corals around Anse Vata and Baie de citrons. On the island you'll have to pay... More

Fabulous island to swim with local fish and relax on a beachside deck chair. Friendly staff. Careful to swim within the buoys though to protect the delicate coral. And to keep your clothing and skin from being torn. Trip there on glass bottomed boat worth it.

The chairs are expensive to rent and very uncomfortable , if yiu can lay in the sun do that , the coral is gorgeous and the fish beautiful we have snorkelled a lot around the world . And this was one of the best . Take your own food to save money.

We got off the Carnival Legend and the day before our visit to Lifou was cancelled due to bad weather so we decided to spend the day snorkelling. We couldn't see how we could get to Amedee island easily and were told Duck Island was the next best option. We bought the hop on hop off ticket in the terminal... More

We didn't find anything special about this little island unless you like to spend all day sun baking. There is nowhere to walk - only a small beach packed with people and a restaurant with a bar. We only lasted there half an hour. However the place is tidy and snorkelling can be good when it's not wind and the... More

Why wouldnt you go?Quick cheap taxi boat out to the little quirky island. Snorkelling right off the beach with loads of fish and some live coral.Expensive to hire gear but lots have their own. You can rent a lovely chair and umbrella at a cost or just sit on the sandy beach. Eat at the restaurant/bar or just take your... More

We travelled here with Celebrity Cruises aboard the Solstice in October 2014. Arrival was at 8:00 at an industrial dock, there is a complimentary shuttle bus that takes you to a passenger terminal. It's only a 5 minute ride but there is no access by foot. Alighting in the car park we were directed inside the passenger terminal where there... More
