Great afternoon outing

A nice quick 5 minute taxi ride from noumea to this wee island. We spent 3 hours there, sun bathed and snorkelled. Amazing snorkelling to close to town. Plenty of fish and coral... read more

Nice quick taxi boat trip to the island from the mainlain of Noumea. Great day out, just chilling by the water on the beach. We took our own food/ snacks and just purchased drinks. I would recommend taking drinks too as everything is expensive on the island. Its small and you can walk most of the way around, but the... More

Ile aux Canards is easily visible from our hotel, Chateau Royal and Anse Vata. I would guess it is only ~1.5 km off shore. It is easy and affordable to access so it is an experience I would recommend. A taxi boat can take you there in about 5 minutes. We booked the taxi boat at the Chateau Royal boutique... More

A nice quick 5 minute taxi ride from noumea to this wee island. We spent 3 hours there, sun bathed and snorkelled. Amazing snorkelling to close to town. Plenty of fish and coral so close to the beach. Down side was having to, pay for the beach chairs. We relaxed on our towels. Take diving boots, sands very rough and... More

Nice place to be. Less wind than onshore. Good snorkling, however I have better at better places. Nice place to be when it is too much wind at Anse Vata.

Short water taxi ride and you're on a little island with plenty of coral and fish to snorkel on. Little restaurant with lovely cold beer and wine. Good alternative to the bigger islands during off-season.

The snorkelling is one of the best in New Caledonia and it's only 5 minutes by taxi boat. Lots of fish and coral. Only problem is that if you don't hire a lounge chair, it's difficult to find a spot to sit on the beach. Too expensive to hire the chairs but still worth a visit. The restaurant/café was also... The one hour snorkelling hire was reasonable and just enough time. The bar on the island looked nice but we didn't try it. Apart from that there was nothing else on the island unless you like to lie on the loungers all day.

Duck Island is just a short water taxi trip from Anse Vata Beach. We loved the island but the cost of chairs and loungers was too expensive. We probably wont go again for that reason. We are over 60 and don't sit on the sand any more :) We did try the food though and that was good. The best... More

It was only a short boat ride across to the island, around $AUD 20 return ticket. The island is well set up but if you want a lounge and umbrella you are required to pay. We just say on the beach and the snorkelling was great. It was also good to go there to get out of the wind on... More

Take your own picnic and a mat to lay on. To hire sun lounges will cost you $40 Aust each! The water is stunning but for an Aussie who only loves Summer it was too cold in May for us! Would love to do the 5 min trip in Summer. The Europeans and Melbourners would love it! The trip cost... More
