Relaxing haven 10 minutes from hotel. Swimming and snorkelling with refreshments and a garden-like bar.

The island is only a very short trip from the main beach. It has some of the very best snorkelling I've ever done. There are so many fish species and even saw a turtle.

I'm not a snorkeller so it was a really good thing for me to get the island in the glass bottom boat to see some of the coral & fish on the way to the island (1000 CFP per person return). The service was friendly and we prearranged a time for them to pick us up. My husband hired snorkelling... More

Ile aux Canards is a very small island just off Anse Vata beach. On the plus side, it is very easy to access - you can get there on a glass bottomed transfer boat (fab driver who makes sure to give you time to have a good look) for a relatively reasonable price. They have tried to strike a balance... More

I've had 2 trips now to Ile Aux Canard and it is definitely worth the trip. A very short water taxi ride (you can catch the yellow water taxis or the white glass bottom boat out there) The snorkelling is amazing with an underwater pathway to follow. It's also great viewing as the bay is a bit of a water... More

A great little 10 minute trip in a glass bottom boat to the island. Very, very hot without any basic shade, so we headed to the island café for some chips just to get some relief from the sun. We hired our snorkelling gear from the boat that we travelled across in, as it worked out a lot cheaper that... More

Our family spent a few hours on the island and enjoyed it but found it impossible to walk anywhere barefoot. The taxi boat to the island was good. Two of our party hired snorkel gear but both had leakage problems but they did enjoy the snorkelling.

No ducks here but the snorkeling is lovely. There is an underwater snorkeling trail which has underwater signs informing you of what is in that particular part of the water. If you catch the water taxi, it will take you to Duck island for 1500 cfp. You can hire snorkeling gear from the island for 600cfp per hour. However, if... More

It was a beautiful day which made it perfect. CPF 3800 for an umbrella and 3 chairs was a bit steep and he wanted to take the umbrella down while it was still sunny - too early.

Duck Island is off the beach in Noumea and after looking at it for a few days decided to visit. 2400 francs to get there (5 minute boat ride) and that's about it. Everything is extra; sun lounger, umbrella everything. And very expensive. If you eat at the cafe, don't linger at the table because you will be asked to... More
