Port Moresby in Papau New Guinea has to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world. So what could be more fun than going to the movies? Once we made it to the Mall from the hotel (an adventure in itself) we could have been in a small town cinema anywhere in the US. You have to select... More

Looks like a first rate international standard movie theatre and indeed the show was flawless, with good viedo and sound and comfortable seats. There were no standard seats available for Mr. Pip, the Bouganville film we wanted to see so we paid 40 Kina for the VIP seats, pretty steep. I was surprised that we were required to select specific... More

I went to see Skyfall there in December, first time to the movies in 20 years. The seats were great, and there was plenty of slope so that the person in front didn't block your view. But the service in the coffee and snack shop was terrible. Slowest service I have seen in a long time. And of course everyone... More

Much better than expected. Establishment was clean, very reasonable prices, and no different that other first world cinemas. I have not tried the VIP screenings, but I hear it does make the experience better (less crowded)

Well, being the only cinema in town and being brand new it ought to be good. Nothing but good reports, even if the projectors breaks down every so often

My first visit to the cinema & I was so annoyed by the security guard (female), who approached me aggressively to check my purse. Aren't they supposed to be welcoming and friendly since they are standing in the gateway of going into the cinema? Goosh.!! Felt like slapping her across the face and asking where her manners were. Anyway she... More

Overall the Paradise Cinema is a great facility and the only one of its kind in PNG. Since it opened though to enthusiastic reviews (including my own) the cracks have started to show... for example * the advertised films are occasionally inexplicably cancelled or deferred (eg The Dark Knight) * the projectors have started to fail mid-film * the babies...
