We went by boat, korjaal. Although I'm an archeologist, visiting the site itself was not worth the money we had to pay for the boat trip. Jodensavanne is a relic of Suriname's plantation past, the remnants of a semi-autonomous Jewish enclave from the mid-17th Century along the Suriname River, 50 km from Parimaribo. Today's visitor will be most interested in what's left of a synagogue as well as numerous tombs.
