You can spend a half day outside Bogota and be amazing with how well they built as a church inside salt mine. It took a bit to get out to the cathedral but once there (two long bus rides, endless hiking up hills and stairs), it was well worth the effort. We were able to get an English speaking guide, who explained the stations of the cross on the first level, then the views of the spaces on the second and third... more

Located about an hour away from Bogota, this place is truly spectacular. The caverns are really extensive, expect to spend at least 2 hours exploring - there are guides to explain the different areas and tell the history. If you are into indigenous artifacts there is a museum just down the hill that is stuffed with pottery, etc. more

This was very fun. While I was in Colombia for a couple years I was never in danger. I recommend everybody go there. more
