These botanical gardens were a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The diversity of the plant life seen there was remarkable. I particularly enjoyed the displays of orchids and cacti. The food in the restaurant was very enjoyable and quite inexpensive. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I have to say I'm a big fan of botanical gardens, and this one didn't disappoint. You can get lost there for hours. The selection of plants is amazing, and the organization by ecosystem a great idea. Weekday mornings are quiet.

I went there with my girlfriend to see all the many plants. Colombia is one of the most diverse countries in the world, occupying just 0.22 percent of the Earth's surface yet home to almost 10 percent of known species, fauna and flora. The place is very peaceful. Go there in a sunny day to take a nap near some... More

The Jardin Botanico Jose Celestino Mutis is a beautiful place to get away from the city hustle and bustle. Once inside, you really feel you are completely away from the city. The botanical gardens are quite large with stunning greenhouses The walkways are well marked. There was a small cafe but it was not open. Once you paid for your... More

This is one place that I absolutely love going to in Bogota. You feel the pressures of the city, traffic, pollution and noise fade away. Not only is there a wonderful butterfly exhibit, but there are beautiful roses, trees and flowers that make it an enjoyable escape. There is a small cafe to buy food/drinks since you cannot bring in... More

Very nice walk while learning about the incredible Colombian flora. The gardens are indeed very nicely presented although it is missing a map when you enter it. Given its size and many habitats a map would indeed facilitate getting the best out of it. Nicely and neatly kept paths lead you from one habitat to the other. The fee is... More

Even though the garden was well kept and clean, the plants were not marked nor were the paths. It was easy to get lost; we had to use a compass to find our way out. Bathrooms are difficult to find and are not very clean. Parking was terrible (especially since we were there on a Saturday).

We made the journey by taxi with a one year old. Big gardens. The entry fee was very cheap free for under 5s and over 60s. Very attentive staff . There is a good green house with desert plants leading to jungle ones and a good quantity of bromeliads. Most of these plants were classified by Jose Celestino Mutis four... More

We had visited the museums that we wanted to especially see in Bogotá, and since it was a Monday, (We would have gone to other museums from our "second list" but all of them were closed.) we decided to spend some time in the Jardín Botánico. Being a work/school day, the garden was almost empty of other visitors. It is... More
