In the heart of the city of La Paz, Plaza Murillo is the best place for people watching. It is not the tidiest place on earth, but it is great to see life unfolding. Bolivians from all walks of life gather here, giving the visitors some insight into their day to day life. The shoe shiners, performers, demonstrators and people... More

Plaza Murillo seems to be a central and important location where ceremonies are taking place. I was lucky to run into such a ceremony one day (see photos I took). Also it's a great place to wander around: great landmarks and beautiful sculptures. Also it is interesting watching local people sitting, playing and passing in the Plaza. More

This square in front of the presidential palace is reaally nice and taken care of. There are lots of landmarks in this block, and it's also a very interesting place to rest and watch the daily life of bolivians that have lunch and walk their dogs through here. More

Nice place to just sit and watch the world go by. Felt very safe and really appreciated the insight of locals like Sarah who showed us where a couple of ex-president's heads were posted. More

This was the most interesting Plaza I visited in La Paz, Cusco, and Lima. The pigeons are crazy, and I refer it as "Plaza de los Pigeones" now. Lots of fun to watch the police, clowns, bootblacks, kids, and families mingle- smiles everywhere. And the buildings are beautiful as well. More

The surrounding buildings are full of history and have incredible architecture. I went at night, it felt safer than during the day when there were some serious demonstrations, including the use of high power explosives. I guess, the square continues to be part of history, witnessing current unrest from different sectors of the population. More

There are many plazas in La Paz and this one gives a wonderful view of the governor's office. It is surrounded by Spanish-style buildings that take you back in time. You can purchase corn to feed the pigeons, which seems to be a common practice on Sunday afternoon. More

A nice example of foundational sqare in a Spanish colonial city. It is upwill as well! Palacio Quemado, the government main building is there. People have a good time with pigeons too! More

Busy square. Not very relaxed to sit because of the pigeons that may land on you as well. More
