My husband and I had the most fun ever in Socotra. It was truly better than our honeymoon. We stayed at the Summerland hotel which was very clean, very nice food and very nice and helpful staff specially Taha who made the trip even more comfortable and enjoyable. I was very surprised by the beauty of the Island and the... More

I just returned from an 10-day vacation to Socotra Island with Socotra Eco Tours. I had a wonderful experience and wanted to tell you about it. I travelled with my friend and we are both young, single American women who live in the UAE. Socotra is known for being a remote, untouched destination with unique plant species that are not... More

Socotra is a magical island where an ancient language is spoken and where God bestowed it with distinct bio-diversity rich in creatures and beautiful plants. These characteristics have rendered it one of the world's most important ecology islands and placed it at the top of the interests for GFF, which took up the responsibility of funding the biodiversity protection campaign... A magical place without tourists. I saw the most beautiful beaches in the world. There, the indian ocean is turquoise. We see the famous dragon blood trees. For me, it's a place that is wild and preserved. It's also the first time I've slept on the beach and listening to the waves all night. Socotra is my best memory... If... More

Spectacular jagged mountains, huge cliffs, massive wind-blown dunes, caves, trees from the distant past, ex-cold war T34 tanks. You won't go anywhere else like the island of Socotra. Its part of Yemen, but closer to Somalia, so not the most popular part of the world for tourism at the moment, but its worth the trip. Forget hotels, you'll be camping,... More

Touted as the Galapagos of the Indian ocean, Socotra (located of the coast of Yemen) is a nature lover's paradise. Seemingly countless endemic species of plants and animals, beautiful beaches and stunning hills and valleys, it truly is a unique location. All this coupled with the fact that there are hardly any other tourist make it all the better. it... More

I've seen a lot of beauty around the world, but Socotra is one of the best. So remoted, only a few tourists, nice Beaches and so friendly people. Far away from the Jemen Continent and nearer to Somalia in Africa. A must on your travelplan. Do it, before it's too overcrowded. So pack your luggage and fly away. More

I have been in Socotra twice in the last year. The first time with an organized trip, the second time as indipendent traveller, after just 3 months from the first visit. Why visiting Socotra so often? Because it is a paradise, you get lost in nature and local traditions and forget everything from your life, in Europe. You can relax... More

I spent a week in Socotra and it was amazing. The Dragon Blood trees will be extinct if goats continue to feast on its seedlings and protection of the various indigenous species of plants and marine life must be protected. The island is a jewel - let's do our best to protect the island. More
