Beach views are great, some of the little craft shops are worth a look. However, it was pretty empty (and closing?) when we were there and so we probably did not see this place at its best. The concept they are trying to pull off is really nice but for me they have not quite got it yet - improvement... More

Up to the 1960's life in Abu Dhabi was similar to that on display in the Heritage Village. The bedouin area had samples of their black tent homes made from goat hairs, a camel ride and a falcon, and souqs selling souvenirs. The small museum had photos showing the pearl diving and fishing done in the area in the 1930s. Craftsmen... More

I liked the market, and got a henna tat, which was great. The little museum was interesting too, but the stall owners are unfriendly and the toilets stank. Badly. I was glad to get back on the bus and away from the smell.

A good overview of what life in the desert was like prior to all the development, but the few animals present are undernourished.

While on the "Big Red Bus" tour of Abu Dhabi, I got off at "Heritage Village". I assumed it would be like all the "recreation villages" I've visited in the States but it wasn't. Its kind of hokey. There's an older Arab gentleman with his old camel (who does a great trick...when you take his picture, the camel turns his... More

I think it is easy to get lost in the splendor of the UAE, but is nice to have the opportunity to view a bit of the history.

Loved the chance to touch and feel and soak in some heritage in this land that is forever zipping into the future on the fastest lane. Beautiful old sea pearl divers village, restored and reinvented as a tourist circuit introduction the dubai's past and traditions. A lovely day outing, with a guided tour, at a leisurely pace, with enough interactions,... More

This is a supposed reconstruction of a traditional oasis village run by the Heritage Club- only visit this if you have time to spare - it has a few shops manned by locals/ Fillipino who seemed least interested in selling the wares( I suspect they have fixed monthly salaries) and most of the products seemed mass produce items very likely... The idea was great. I was handed a falcon to hold and then told it cost 10 d. It would have been nice to know before. Also, the women's room has holes in the floor to use as toilets. Sorry, as an American that doesn't cut it.

We didn't really enjoy this much, but it depends what you like. There was a carpet making area, a few animals and a little bit of history but not our idea of fun.
