We stayed here for one night at the end of December during a week independent sightseeing in Oman. This camp is located only a few kilometers from the highway, but you feel really far away. It did seem they were building a new road right in front of the camp though. We stayed in a palmleave hut with our own... more

I recently stayed at both desert dicovery camps (in Ras al Jinz and in Wahiba sands). Both camps were so unbelievely dirty. It reminded it me the worst dorms of India at time I was backpacking 20 years ago. It's quite astonishing that the Omani Ministry of Tourism would allow to use such beautiful settings to put up dirty tents... more

My wife and I have just returned from a one night stay at the Al Areesh camp (Desert Discovery). We have brought back with us warm memories of a great stay, basic but comfortable rooms, good food and very friendly staff. What impressed us the most was the extremely helpful attitude of the Omani staff, who were always on hand... more
