Unlike the souks which are like any shopping centre anywhere, I think you probably see the real Beirut in Hamra street. Its very long and hilly, so be prepared for a good walk. Lots of local shops, some of which are fancy, most are not. Lots of cafes line the street but see if you can hold out for Café... More

It's in the heart of Beirut city...it's cosmopolitan...you can walk there and meet a lot of people from different nationalities...you can walk and stay in many coffee shops and restaurants on this street...you can do shopping too from different boutiques...it's one of the experience you should do when you visit Lebanon...

Over the last few years in Beirut so many shopping malls and centre's have opened up , it almost felt a little tired in Hamra for shopping this year - they need to up their game to keep people going there - the tourists will come but what will they buy if it is the same or less exciting than... I was staying on that street and was walking through it everyday. It has many stores l, restaurants, and cafes just like any other Main Street I guess. I didn't like the fact that the street is so narrow and noisy traffic all the time. People are constantly blowing their horns and on several occasions ambulances couldn't get through due... More

The street also houses some good dine in restaurants as well. It is also close to American University Hospital (AUH)-best hospital in the middle east. This... More
