We really enjoy visiting the Bab el-Bahrain Souk....we particularly like the souvenir shops (they seem to be mostly Turkish or Indian stuff) and the plethora of fabric and tailor shops. It's a good break away from the malls and the movie theaters, and more of a local attraction. Check it out!

The Bab el Bahrain really isn't a proper proper souk. All the shops are housed in a modern shopping arcade. The only thing that's worth doing at the Souk is getting a picture taken in front of the Bab el Bahrain Souk entrance (it can be your "Bahrain trip profile picture" ). That's it period. Don't waste too much time... More

Don't be put off by the modern section that meets you as you enter the souk; it has very little to do with the real souk which is all around it. I lived in Bahrain in the eighties and often visited the souk, very little has changed I am happy to say :o) It has become a little more organised... More

Anything you want you can find here! Be careful to make a note of where you came from because it's easy to get lost! If you happen to do so don't be afraid to ask for directions everyone is extremely kind and helpful. I highly recommend this as a place to see.

If you live in Bahrain, Bab al Bahrain will be the place which you will consider as one of the most useful. Just behind the gate to souq is a new building - dedicated to tourists. Not big but with some nice souvenirs and antique. But if you go deeper you can find a guy who will become your favorite... More

You can find everything you want, plus tons of stuff you didn't know you needed. I love the diversity. I was lucky to visit the souk several times during my stay. It's easy to lose time and yourself.

Loved the quaint shops with lovely Arabic dresses, scarves and artifacts. Try the spice market lanes and the beautiful Arabic HALWA sweet shops. If you like dry fruits, sample n buy!! Mulberrys, almonds, raisins, sultanas, walnuts, almondsn lots more. Nice place to walk around and spend an evening or a mid morning. There is renovated recreation of the old souk... More
