I have visted this attarction many times during my stay in Bahrain. It takes you back in time with its narrow streets and small shops that are stuck to each other. The place is very authentic and has been recently rebewed in a way to keep its original taste.

Went here thinking we would find a lot of stall, very disappointing. only found about 2 places open. Now maybe because it was the time of day it was mid day and not sure if it comes alive at evening.

It was ok...I have been to souks with far more selection and more interesting - at least for tourists. All the people we met were very friendly.

We went to the souk with a friend who lives in Bahrain. It was awesome! There are tons of traditional foods to try. I would recommend going to a juice stand. They have many different kinds of fresh fruit that they will blend into juice for you right there! I got peach and it was DELICIOUS. Very cold and refreshing... More

The market is located in Central Manama. Here you will basically find anything you are looking for. This includes clothes, food (multicultural food), electronics, spices & nuts, souvenirs...etc. The market has many small restaurants and sheesha (bubbly) cafes. On the negative side, the market requires more public facilities like toilets. Try to avoid going there in the summer (i.e. July,... More

Nice, lively spot in 'old Bahrain'. Good for people watching, bartering and street food. Western Women are advised to dressed modestly as if not expect the unwanted attention of the predominantly male crowd. This is just common sense though and a wander through in early evening before dinner is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

Bab el Bahrain offers a nice photo opportunity. The old seat of government of colonial Britain, it used to be right on the water. Reclaiming has since taken its toll... Right behind it is the new Bab Al Bahrain souk (try the traditional Bahraini breakfast at Saffron) and behind that the old souk. Interesting walk if you want to see... More
