This souk is good for shopping but one should aware and careful with the price. Need to negotiate /bargain for beeter price. Most shops are over priced! Can visit once but avoid during weekends cos it's over crowded.

Mideast souks all seem to be the same to me now much like American malls all seem to be the same. I keep expecting to find something different and authentic in each one, but usually it tends to be fake watches, scarves and Arab lamps made in China or India. This souk is no different. The vendors aren't as aggressive... More

Not sure what's to like about it. It's just some small streets with many small shops all selling the same stuff: fake watches or sunglasses, gold, clothes. After visiting Dubai and Muscat, we were not impressed by this 'souk'. We arrived by boat and had to drive 45minutes from the port to the souk / centre of Manama. It was... More

Well worth a visit. It can take some time walking around and you will get accosted by sales people. Watches are cheap (not originals), and the gold market is worth a visit. Not a lot of Arabic items, but you can get shirts/suits made to measure very cheaply.

Yes, well everyone here raves about Bab el-Bahrain. It's a big souk and can take a few hours to go through. Basically, it's for the locals......a lot of cheap clothes but nothing traditionally Arabic. Better to go to the many shops in Adliya where you will find more authentic arabesque garbs

We prefer going early morning as its not crowded, walk in the small streets seeing and buying traditional bargain stuff, its a different experience. This makes me realize i am in actual middle east, I like the tobacco street, and the spice shops.

A good experience if you can stand the hustle bustle and the myriad of small alleyways. A bit intimidating for a westerner with family and kids but if you have some previous middle east experience you will be fine

After visiting Souks in Kuwait and Qatar, I can share that this is a very clean and enjoyable Souk. We walked from the Sheraton Hotel and enjoyed the many antique, jewelry, souvenir items and world crafts. Most of the shop owners did not harass us but a few did. Prices are negotiable so be ready to bargain. I would recommend... More
