We have been visiting Al Dar Island every now and then over the last 11 years. This last weekend was our 3rd visit this year and was our escape after summer in Cyprus and the shock of two weeks back at work. Arriving nice and early for the first boat from Sitra Wharf (0900) the first change we noticed was... More

The island is 10 minutes from the mainland by sea taxi. The taxi runs to the island every 30 minutes. We booked two chalets, because the twin chalet was already booked. We arrived at check-in time, but the chalets were not ready, still being prepared from the previous guests. The staff were polite and kept us informed. We took our... More

We had a very bad experience hiring Jetski. While returning back after half an hour ride our jet ski was slightly touched (I don't say hit because it was just touched) with another jetski parked. At first we did not take it very serious as it was just a touch but after a few minutes Jetski guy who was taking... More

The atmosphere of the island was very well and calming, the chalets are clean and cozy, the weather is different from bahrain; humidity was less. The only thing that was disturbing to me is the beach wasn't clean once you get in the water you see rocks and plants that i personally do not like or want to feel. The... More

The beach is relatively small and not well maintained. Prices are affordable. Boat trips were not available because all boats were broken. Will come again to try the jetskie. Overall, it is OK

Big picture: What none of the photos of Al Dar show you is that the (very small) island is smack bang in the middle of an industrial bay. This means in three directions you have wonderful industrial vistas including storage tanks, massive refineries and the like. Timing: I reckon timing is everything with Al Dar. The wind was up (but... More

We had a lovely night on Al Dar. We booked out all the chalets and it was very reasonably priced split between all of our friends. There are various trips which run from the island too, such as fishing and dolphin watching!

The beach is fine but there are to many jet skis making noise.I like to go there once a year with the kids but it's not what you expect. There aren't any nice beaches in Bahrain. What a shame!

I went there with my husband on Labor Day. For start the sight was amazing but the beach is full of sharp rocks I accidentally step on one which made my foot soak in blood. After calling the reception 3 times a guy came with a first aid kit and fixed my leg. I didn't wanna spoil the day so... More

We did visit the location with family and friends. A short save trip via boat and you are on an island within a very short distance from Manama. We did miss a slide into the water a bit but enjoyed the day outside.
