Loved our visit to the dead sea, we shirked the 5* resorts for the good old public beach...sure it was undeveloped but it was getting there and was perfectly fine. Floating was amazing and I was so amazed at how much you do float - shows my ignorance but you float more than I thought!! we saw plenty of people... More

The biblical sites just upstream on the Jordan River are the most interesting part of the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea, and ought not be missed. The several resorts along the Dead Sea itself are nothing special, although they are the only way to actually find sand and splash in the water. The Israeli side offers vastly superior access... My one piece of advice: don't shave your legs! I had to cut my floating time short due to the pain :( Actually, one more piece of advice: eat indoors. I thought it would be nice and picturesque to eat at an outdoor cafe, but the Dead Sea and River Jordan are swarming with flies. Hungry flies. Yuck. Despite this,... More

Although the Xmas to New Year week was cold, it was a sunny day when we visited the Dead Sea. The floating experience on the sea was an out of the world one! We managed to read while floating! Less crowd, good facilities viz. towels, showers, changing rooms, pool etc to wash off the salt all over the body after... More

Like: warm ocean in winter, can float close to shore--it's true about the density of the ocean, loved the mud treatment (3JD/$5) which moisturizes you after the ocean swim Dislike: was at Amman Beach, public area...rocky, bit trashy, need to clean it up more and add more sand...sorry, comparing it to my beaches in Hawaii and San Diego

Unless your allergic to water this is a must do event. You don't need all day but a couple hours. Not far from Amman.

We stayed at Holiday Inn Spa Hotel on the Dead Sea. Fantastic hotel complex with its own beach down to the Dead Sea.
