We had not heard of Gutman until we stopped into this museum located in Neve Tzedeck. There was a non-Gutman exhibit which was cutting edge. Nachum Gutman is an interesting man. He is fairly well known. His sculptures are good as well. The paintings have English captions.

The changing ex. are usually very nice to, even, important... The regular ex.(Gutman) is nice if you like naive painting and got no problem with Gutman eliminating most of Arab neighborhoods out of Jaffa in his paintings...

I was taken here by some Israeli relatives. I was not familiar with the work of Gutman as it seems few of his absolutely delightful children's books have been translated. But I loved his delightful, fanciful works and the warm view they provided of Tel Aviv in the not so distant past. Families with children would love coming here as... More

Nachum Gutman drew children's books, magazine covers and wall art. Each style being different from the other. I saw his work all around me but never knew that so much of it was his, until this visit.

This museum dedicated to Nachum Gutman in what was his home explains his life and how it reflects the history of modern Israel. He was ecclectic in the he painted, drew, wrote and illustrated. It is always interesting to learn of the extraordinary talent that created this modern state.

"Sweetheart" in the most deep sense of the word. Well, you'd better be acquainted with his books to fully grasp the essence of Nachum Gutman. Yet, just looking carefully at his works, especially the watercolor ones (to my taste) - and enjoy his naivety yet wise way of expressing the early days of Tel-Aviv. The museum is small, intimate and... More
