We joined the YMCA when we moved to Jerusalem in May after reviewing the alternatives in Jerusalem. The other gyms had terrible hours, with Shabbat closures etc. The only place that is airconditioned in the whole building is the aerobic room and the weight room. The swimming pool hours this summer are very restricted with summer camp and women only. However... More

Gym was very basic - there was: 1. About 3 barbells 2. A squat rack 3. Bench Press 4. A range of dumbbells 5. Swimming pool Changing rooms and the pool were warm, dark & most - felt like the perfect incubator for bacteria culture. It was pretty expensive on a per-entry basis from what I recall (8-10 GBP). Towels... More

The YMCA tower is one of the best ways to view Jerusalem! For 10 shekels you ascend an elevator and get an unsurpassed view of this city! The tower soars over the surrounding area and four balconies allow you unimpeded views of the city. I recently took a visitor to the city and spent one hour overlooking the King David... More

What more is there to be said about the YMCA? This old building (apx. 80 years old) changed just a bit since it was built. The place offers the usual YMCA services, plus there's a decent restaurant inside, which is ok for a quick lunch.

We walked through this quiet (for Jerusalem) area while returning a rental car at the nearby Hertz location. Definitely worth 15 minutes to walk through both beautiful buildings. We came across a photo that showed this area from the air in the early 20th century. The King David and the YMCA were the only prominent structures. Both have been nicely... More

The top of the YMCA offers 1 360 degree panoramic view of the city of Jerusalem. The building is definitely dated. It appears little changed since in was built in the 1930s. However, it combines architectural and cultural from all three of the world's major faiths. It is well worth the time to see this tall structure. It reminds me... More

I have visited this wonderful building and gazed up at its tower on each of my trips to Israel. This past March I decided to pop inside and take the elevator up to the tower's observation balconies. Unfortunately they were closed due to some weather damage. I did not find this out until I was already in the small (very)... More

If you want to know, why this city is what it is you should go to YMCA - it's very symbolic, its location (opposite King David Hotel) and the purpose it was built for, the symbols on the walls (Christian, Muslem, Jewish). I didn't enjoy the decor, but the acustic is great.

YMCA building is the one of the most attractive structures in Jerusalem, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. It is a sport and culture center and it has also a small hotel - Three Arches hotel. The hotel comprises 56 rooms. Visit to YMCA building brings you to see an interesting architectural work with meaning behind each arch and sculpture.... More
