Directly across the street from the legendary KingDavid Hotel, the YMCA, known colloquially as "YIMKA" is a landmark whose soaring tower makes it easily identified. Built by the same archictect who designed the Empire State Building it has an good cafe-restaurant good for lunch, especially on Saturdays when many are closed for the Sabbath.

The YMCA in Jerusalem is an institution, but first I want to mention something humurous- the hotell elevator. This is certainly the smallest elevator in Israel, maybe the world. You can step inside with your suitcase, that is all. One by one you go up and down, without luggage two people can squeeze in, it's funny and cute.
