Huge, complex, dark, and haunting. Don't expect to understand what you are seeing if you are not Christian. Nothing is marked or signposted. Some chambers are very crowded and some are almost empty. Very impressive, but the lack of guidance made me wish I had read about it before going. Went on a Saturday, when most other attractions are closed,... More

It is, even if many are not in accord if or how Jesus is buried there. The church has an old age feeling of coarse. The architecture experience is really a delight, specially to take pictures.

The church was really impressive and so were the crowds. The upper floor was extremely hot and suffocating but it is worth the time.

Our experience in Holy Sepulchre was not that good. Visiting the place where Jesus was crucified and buried is very special, however, the church is dark and a mess, near to the holy places, lot of people crushed and pushing each other and when you finally reach it, the noise and the hurry of the others are not the proper... We visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre last week, and it seemed like the whole world was there. The Church is beautiful and very atmospheric, but the literally thousands of people in and around it detracted from what could have been a very interesting visit. The queue for Jesus's tomb was so long that we did not bother to... More

First attempted a visit and got caught up in Ethiopian/Eastern Orthodox Good Friday. The crowds were crushing. Waited a few days and went at 8:30am and walked right in the main door. It's very interesting to see how people react to this place, prostrating themselves in front of or on certain places. Whether you believe or not, the atmosphere and... More

Probably more Christians venerate this Church than any other place on earth; however, it holds a fascination for anyone of any faith. This is supposedly the site of Golgotha, Calvary, the stone of unction (where Jesus body was anointed), and the Holy Sepulchre itself, where Jesus was buried. These sites were identified in about 330 CE by Queen Helena, the... More

There were tousands of pilgrim and tourist to enter in this really holy place. It takes time and patience but rewarding emotion when you end the visit - on that day the crowd overfilled the church but if you feel the atmosphere you can still stay some moment alone with yourself.

If you ever have to choose one last place to visit, this is it. Depending on the time of visit, it is a long wait for your turn to enter the holiest of places.
