Don't miss going to the Temple Mount if you are able to. Whether you go for religious reasons or not, the architecture and magnitude is impressive. The whole grounds are beautiful and when you use your imagination a little, you can see the place exactly as it would have been centuries ago because of the remnants of structure that remain.... Entrance to the Temple Mount involves a long wait and then a security check. After security as you walk to the Temple Mount itself you get a fabulous view of the faithful praying at the Western Wall. The Temple Mount complex is huge. As a non-Muslim I could not enter any of the buildings, but the outsides were beautiful indeed.... More

I've noticed that several tourists here have mentioned that it is not open to all faiths, and that it is not "fair." I'm suprised that few have explained why this relatively (in years) recent rule has been placed in effect. Although most believe that the reason is religious, it is not (Mark Twain visited and wrote about his experience there,... More

Unfortunately we didn't plan well, and were not able to enter the Dome of the Rock. I would recommend checking and planning a visit according to the very limited opening hours. I am sure it is worth it. More

Queue very early in the morning to get through security as tour group queues form after breakfast time. Dress modestly - no bare arms and legs. The Dome itself is beautiful but non-Muslims cannot go inside. There are several other photo-stops around the grounds and plenty of shade, but most of all I loved the quiet contemplation of the Muslim... More

They rarely open this up to Visitors and you need to line up early. Take an umbrella and water and snack. Dress super moderately. Even men must cover the legs. No public display of affection with your honey on top. Be cool! Pictures are ok, we tagged along with a tour to hear and it was very helpful or you... More

If you are prepared to wait at least 1-2 hours to get in during April, then remember to bring shawls if you are a woman. We went in a small group of 4 and although we thought we were suitably dressed we were picked for not having our heads covered. The large bus groups wandered by us with similar clothing to... More

We had the extraordinary experience to have a Jewish believer taking us up to the Temple Mount and seeing our first example of the way people are trying to live together in Israel. More

Unfortunately when we visited they were not allowing non-Muslims to get very close to the Temple Mount, but still it was a sight to see. I wish I could have walked on the temple's original steps. More
