What a great place for a birder visiting Jerusalem. It is very difficult to find this place. Had the taxi driver drop me at the nearby Rose Garden and tried to find it on my own. It is actually next to the Knesset. I was able to get some help finding it. The bird blind is great, and there were... More

Shows you a side of Israel you will not see otherwise--gets 5 stars only when the banding is going on, call to find out. A huge number of birds funnel through Israel and the station rings them. I got to see a Nightingale and many warblers. There is a blind to look for birds. Bring binoculars if you have them.

From reading another review here, I found out about Dr. Carmel Zitronblat (carmelbirdingtours.com). I want to second the previous positive review written for him as a birdwatching guide. I am so glad I found him here on tripadvisor and contacted him! We had a great two day birding trip with Carmel. I highly recommend him as a guide if you... More

Loved this place! Even if you are not a birder, its worth a little trip. Conveniently located in Sachar Park near the knesset, You enter off of Rothschild just south of the Old Cemetary. Currently there is construction, and you walk down stairs from the street with construction material all around you. I got to it by walking from the... More

Park N 31.77983deg, E035.20512deg and walk down the steps (past some graves) and over to the right. Call to find out when the observatory personnel band birds. Sit in the blind (so the birds do not feel your presence) observation area. Have personnel show you how they catch (and release) the birds. Being there it defies the imagination that you... More

We would like to recommend our birding guide Dr. Carmel Zitronblat (carmelbirdingtours.com) for his professional guidance during our trip to Israel. His love of birds is evident in his impressive knowledge base, his spotting/identifying skills, and in the patient and informative manner he led us around the birding hotspots in and around Eilat. Dr. ZItronblat also invited us to see... More

Adjacent to Israel's Parliament building (the Knesset) in the heart of the city lies this paradisaical refuge for native and migrating birds - and for people. Whether you're touring Jerusalem or live here, the JBO is not to be missed! Every morning ornithologists net, band, measure and release birds - and you can watch them close up (and hear the... More
