The museum offers a wonderful collection of artifacts from many eras including Egyptian, Greek, roman and more, in addition to a nice art collection. It is inside Haifa university, so when we were done, we ventured outside to look at the scenic views the Carmel mountain offers. The museum was oddly empty, making the visit even more special. Even our... More

I visited the Hecht Museum with my fellow students at the Tour Guide School of the University of Haifa. The museum is a perfect attractions for tourists providing a quiet airconditioned presentation of archaeology in Israel. Others may enjoy the Art wing.

This is a relatively small and not frequently visited museum located at the university of Haifa on top of the Carmel mountain. It hosts an archeological collection dedicated to the land of Israel, a unique stamp collection + a few more collections. Its highlight is a 2400 years old ship wreck recoverd, restored and presented at the museum few years... More

The Hecht museum offers a floor of archeological findings and changing exhibits of interest to all ages. Well arranged and sell chosen objects from the digs in and around Israel. The upper floor is devoted to Hecht's personal art collection plus changing echibits. Now there is an excellent exhibit of Israeli painters who worked in Safed but were influenced by... More

There are some wonderful permanent exhibits in this museum: a ship covered by the sea for over 2000 years, coins from the various historical periods, rings used as seals by kings and royalty, ossuaries, ceramics, and lots more. I always take visitors to this museum. It is located in the library building (at the bus stops) in haifa University.

On the campus of Haifa University. Very informative about history. Well presented with very descriptive labels. Worth the trip to the university.

If you are interested in either history or archeology, I highly recommend going there: a large collection which is impressive in its variety and quality, all in a not-too-big space, with good explanations, and with no admission fee. Otherwise, you might find it too far to get to (outside the city of Haifa, and with parking issues).

We were constrained on time because the museum closes early on Friday. You could spend a lot of time looking at all the items on display - the signage is excellent. We were not so interested in the art, but the rest of the exhibits are very educational and interesting.
