We had a great experience here! We were a little nervous to walk out here naked..but when in rome, do as the romans do right?!? It was really amazing, we got quite the scrub down and we felt so amazing and relaxed afterwards! It was such a nice ending to our day as we had walked all over Istanbul in... More

I do not understand the negative reactions. Our turkish host recommended this one and we enjoyed it. Some tourists here but also turkish women. Seperat hammans fot men and women. You get a scrub and a soapmassage including headmassage and hammam use for 40 TL, stay as long as you like. We also had half an hour oilmassage for 40... More

I feel the bad reviews for this place are very harsh Myself and 3 work colleagues sought out somewhere to experience a turkish bath which was not overrun with tourists and thought Buyuk sounded like the place despite some negative reviews This was my first experience of a Turkish bath so I didn't have anything to compare to but this... My boyfriend wanted to go in a authentic turkish bath, and not one made for tourists, OK! The Price is 35TL, very cheap compared to some other, I thought: maybe because it is in a neighborhood far away and no in a Tourist area, right? NO, is because is very bad. Dirty and the massage is not good and very... More

This was my first hamam experience, so I had only a vague idea of what to expect. I was attracted to the decsription of Buyuk as a place where locals go. I understand that Buyuk Hamam is no-frills, but this place did not seem very hygenic. When I was brought to the dressing room, the towel from the previous customer... More

My experience in this Hamam was unfortunately very bad. The hamam is not luxurios at all, but that was ok since I was looking for a genuine one. I was happy to see that I was the only tourist but that probably was also the problem: while the other ladies were scrubbed and massaged with care and "commitment" for a... More

I decided to try this place because of the rating on trip advisor. I thought a local small place would give me a real feel of the traditional Turkish bath. My very first thought walking in was it was not well lit and looked quite run down. I was given a small room to change. The plastic bench to put... More

Buyuk was a nice, authentic Turkish bath situated close to my hotel and well-reviewed on TripAdvisor as a place to get a good, no-frills bath/massage. I enjoyed the experience, although the masseuse seemed afraid to apply too much pressure (despite my insistence on a deeper massage through hand gestures). As others said, though, it would make for an excellent first-time... More

We wanted a hammam that wasn't too crowded and too full of other tourists, so we found this little "hidden gem" a few blocks away from Istikal Cadessi and Taksim square. It's not the oldest or the most beautiful, but it was clean, inexpensive and felt truly genuine. The attendants knew more or less no English/German etc. but it worked... More

The workers only understand turkish. It is a very local( not luxurious) bath. It shows you the typical turkish bath. A great first-time experience. Cheap. Only 30 TL per person.( don't forget the tips)
