Istiklal is composed a very long street with all sorts of stores and outlets. You can enjoy it mostly by getting yourself lost in alleys and neighboring streets where you can taste great Turkish shiha and enjoy the company of locas and tourists.

I was taken aback by the number of people walking up and down this street....its sooo busy. Shops and restaurants all along...we had a great meal at one of the charming little places on a by road...sampled some turkish cooking. I loved the old red tram passing by...with all its charm and history. Ice cream stands with the most amusing... More

Although the wide pedestrian walkway of Istiklal street was interesting, I found the narrow and bustling Muhurdar and Gunesli Bahce streets in the Kadikoy region on the Asian side to be much more exciting. These parallel streets are just 2 blocks from the Kadikoy Ferry Station. Less tourists seem to walk these streets which are packed with restaurants, cafes, pastry... More

I lived just near the Hard Rock Cafe at istiklal caddesi .people are nice and it's a lively street. Music being busked and shishas at the side street where people mingle and chatters of laughter are at. The heritage tram that serves the street adds culture to this place. A must go',

Istiklal Street has it all - shopping, food, a lively street to walk, street performers etc. This is one of the most amazing streets that I have encountered, its never ending with multiple by-lanes. This is a must visit if you are in Turkey!!! You can spend an entire evening out here.

It is better to walk on Istiklal on Saturday. Street is laud and crowded all night. Here you can see how Turkish people entertain. You can find a lot of thematic bars in backstreets.
