Very very crowded; some areas closed for renovations - but a must see when touring Istanbul!

This is an immense site- be sure to take a good guidebook or your own guide to understand what you are viewing. Allow at least a couple of hours or more. Don't miss the jewelry or the religious objects.

The tour gives you a great sense of the opulence of the time. The palace can get very busy. Recommend you take the audio tour as lot to see . Separate ticket for the harmen which is a must see

There are small shops right outside the gates. U der no circumstance buy anything from them. Their prices are not realistic. 12euros for a mug? Don't try to bargain. A 2 minute walk down the hill and the small bazaar has everything you want and need. The palace also has a nice gift shop with a coffee shop. Pretty inexpensive... More
