We had an excellent Secret Of Istanbul. The tour guide(ozzie) was great - interesting and funny, definitely entertaining. He also gave us excellent recommendations for food and other things to do in the city. Would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to Istanbul

We arrived in Istanbul late afternoon, so booked the "Taste of Turkey on Two Continents" tour for that evening. We felt it would be a great way to get an introduction to the city, rather than wandering on our own in an unfamiliar place, especially after it got dark. We were not disappointed! We booked it as a private tour,... More

Having been on several culinary tours, I would say that there is very poor value for the 85 euro price. A quick walk through the local market had only one sampling stop, then a light dinner, then dessert, then a water pipe with a beverage. The guide may have had an off night based on the positive reviews, but he... More

We spent the first three days of our honeymoon in Istanbul, and decided to splurge for our first day on a private tour. The value of this experience far exceeded the cost. We were lucky to work with Oguz, who met us at our hotel at 9am and spent the entire day with us (until dinner!). He led us through... More

We booked our guide, Yunus Kirpik, with My Local Guide Istanbul Private Tours. Yunus was a very knowledgeable and personable guide. We did three full days with him and covered most of the major sites in Istanbul. He added activities as we wanted, such as going to a hookah bar. The hookah bar was not in a tourist area so... More

The tour guide Oz was really nice and shared many stories about the city and its attractions. The walk covered some of the attractions in the old town. Must do on day 1 so that you get a feel of the main attractions in a short time

The small group size on our tour was good but enjoyment was tempered by a lack of enthusiasm from our guide who although keen to give us opinions on life in Istanbul was not particularly knowledgable or keen to answer questions. Altogether a disappointment and not worth the €50 per head charge. The only thing that we did that could... More

We are a family of five and had only two days in Istanbul. We booked two private tours with My Local Guide Istanbul. After having spent our first day casually looking at sights, shopping, etc..., we spent all of our second day with Yunus and Salih. In the morning Yunus took us to see the top sights of old Istanbul.... More

We had a great time in our two tours with My Local Guide in Istambul guided by Semih. It was a very good choice for us knowing the city with these 2 tours, very well organized and interesting. Semih is a great guide. Very well prepared, all the information he gave us was very interesting and he is a nice... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
