I have been to Istanbul on a number of occasions and I was happy to again engage the services of Tarik Saylan. He is an excellent guide, with good English, and if he is not available his partner Furkan is also excellent. Tarik is not just a guide; he is also an inbound tour operator and can arrange your entire... More

We recently flew Turkish Airlines and took the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Istanbul and hired Istanbul Guided Tours to introduce us to the City. Our tour guide was fantastic. She showed up early, and went out of her way to make sure we had an excellent time. We were traveling as a group, with two elderly... More

We search the Internet for tours that we felt comfortable with and our decision to use this company was rewarded with a great experience. First let me say that a private tour is the BEST way to see almost any city or location and in most cases not that much more expensive. Because of the 4 day Sacrifice Holiday, many... More

I went to Istanbul in the end of September 2015 for a meeting and decided it was the perfect opportunity to stay on and visit the city. After some extensive research on guided tours of the city, I settled with Istanbul Guided Tours which had the best reviews. They were very accommodating and agreed to cater some tours to my... More

We were two couples who spent 3 days pre-cruise in Istanbul. we booked two days of tours With Zerrin in advance. We spent two complete days with Zerrin who we affectionately called. "Z". She was punctual, knowledgeable, and had a great personality. She had keen insights into her counties history, culture, food and religions. If there is one word to... More

We often use Viator for walking tours at different places around the world and are yet to be disappointed. Our one day walking tour was well paced and our tour guide did a very good job in explaining the history and context of the various sites that we visited, and Istanbul more broadly. The only negative was the visit to... More

We were very happy with our choice to book 2 days of private tours with this company! I did a lot of "shopping around"before we chose Istanbul guided tours and are glad we did. They accommodated our requests very professionally and took great care of us and our needs. We were able to see and learn a lot about Turkey... More

My wife and I booked a private tour and it was everything we had hoped for and more. Furkan met us at our hotel and shepherded us via public transportation into the old city. At the end of the day he returned with us to our hotel. We never had to negotiate travel on our own. Furkan was warm, friendly,... More

We took 2 half day tours of major Istanbul sites which was a perfect amount of information on each of those half days. We also took the all day food tour on a Sunday, perfect!

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
