Overall, our half day cruise up the Bosphorus was OK. However, we were picked up a half hour late, lunch was just passable, we didn't actually get to the Black Sea as advertised, and swimming was just a brief anchorage off the shore. Very little information imparted by our "guide".. Overall just not worth $50 each.

We purchased the combined bus and boat tour through IBO tours. The boat trip was restful with some pleasant commentary from a young tour guide. We stopped at the Rumeli Fortress but found that there was not much to see and we only had 20 minutes to climb up a hill so that we could enjoy the views. The bus... More

Nice half a day (afternoon trip) with lunch included. They pick you up at your hotel around 1:00pm and bring you back around 6:00pm. This is a mid-range option between the very exclusive and more fancy options and the tours most people normally do in overcrowded boats with dozens/hundreds of people inside. For 45 euros, you get a simple yet... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the full day cruise along the Bosphorus to the Black Sea. The tour guide was very informative and the boat was very comfortable. The cruise included morning tea, a tasty BBQ lunch and a refreshing afternoon tea. The day ended with a refreshing swim in the Black Sea. We considered the cruise to be great value for... More

Great people on board, personable, helpful to a fault and very customer friendly. We did the full day and were able to see a few digs along the way. Having said that, I am not sure whether the stop at Ortakoy and Anadolu were worth the trouble. I wish we could have sailed past the Blue Mosque and Topkapi palace... More

Booked day cruise with Viator and specifically for a Wednesday as wanted to visit the Palace. The afternoon before IBO (operating on behalf of Viator) rang to say they were changing our booking to the Thursday and to be ready for hotel pick up at 08.45 for the 09.00 published sailing. There was no alternative offered. The pick up arrived at... More

We did a half-day Bosphorus Cruise to the Black Sea which in my opinion was more than enough to fully experience this attraction. We opted for the afternoon cruise as it included lunch. The price is a bit steep at 45Euro/person but we feel we got our money's worth. Despite cheaper cruises being available - we were picked up and... More

I will chime in with the review done by another traveler (Laura87p May 27th) that the boat crew on our trip was helpful but the transportation arranged by Viator was unacceptable. We called several times to check on our confirmed pick up (for 4) at our hotel and were given numerous excuses for why they were being delayed. Then they... More

This tour was a lovely relaxed way to see Istanbul beyond the old city area. The tour guide provided lots of interesting information, we had plenty to time see things at each of the sites and the boat was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this experience with this group. The waffles at ortakoy were the best-be sure to treat... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
