Besiktas is a must in Istanbul in my opinion. Dolmabahce Palace is there and the atmosphere is quite different from the one in Beyoglu or Sultanahmet(the most visited districts). It is very easy to reach it from the main attractions (T1 tram leads to Kabatas which is right near Dolmabahce Palace).

Besiktas square is a very popular meeting point with the Bosphorus ferries port, Navy Museum, Fish Market, various cafe and restaurants...You can experience the lively atmosphere of the city where locals hang around during day and night...

Lacking the usual tourist horde, Besiktas is a fascinating neighbourhood, worth roaming around for an hour or so. You can see here how the Istanbulians live, and you may learn here more about the city’s atmosphere than at Taksim or any other touristic area. This district is home to the famous die-hard Turkish soccer club Besiktas J.K., so you will... More

Besiktas its the poshy area in Istanbul. Lots of restaurants and trendy shops around the seafront and a really nice atmosphere creates a great environment to gain a little of peace in this crazy city. The best access would be by the sea to avoid the huge traffic of the area but you can go early and enjoy the day... More

Besiktas is my favorite place in Istanbul. There is a small street with breakfast-places worth to go in the morning. In center there is a fish-market with lots of Fish-restaurants behind it. Further you should try one of the Katik place. On sea-side you can sit comfortably and eat seeds or you can go to Barbaros café to the roof... More
