That’s where Culinary Backstreets’ Culinary Walks come in. In order to help you explore the world’s gastro-capitals and get off these cities’ eaten path, CB is offering (with selected partners) guided culinary walks in some of the cities we cover, starting with Istanbul, Athens, Barcelona, and Shanghai. Our culinary walks are designed to lead visitors on an eating binge through a city’s lesser-seen historic side streets and authentic markets, taking in countless hard-to-find culinary gems and, in between bites, a select number of untouristed monuments. « less

We are food lovers from Melbourne and travel frequently and of recent times have come to the realisation that if you wan't to experience the "real" versions of food in new cities or places we visit then you need local guidance otherwise you just eat the tourist/ hotel versions of the food with limited information on its culture and context.... Whether you're a 'foodie' or not, this trip is a must if you really want to get to know Istanbul, its people and of course the delicious food! We decided on the 'Two Continents' option and this is perfect for those who want to really experience the European and Asian sides of istanbul. Our guide Ugur really knew his stuff and... More

We did the Old City walking tour with our guide Senem. This was a fantastic experience.... her knowledge of the areas, sites and little out of the way eating places was terrific. We'd definitely do another tour with Culinary backstreet tours... worth every penny and a great way to get to know the city that tourists don't get to.

I enjoyed the bazaar walk so much I went again 2 days later with my husband on the Two Continents walk. The guides were terrific personalities, knew a lot about the food and Turkish culture. These were memorable experiences you couldn't have by just wandering the backstreets on your own- the guides had excellent relations with food sellers all over... More

We had Benoit lead our tour of wonderful little lanes and authentic food places where we sampled some varied and tasty Turkishi food. Highly recommend it as a food and cultural walking experience through beautiful Beyoglu.

We made Culinary Backstreets of the Bazaar Quarter tour in Istanbul. We were so satisfied. It was like being inviteted by your best friend showing his/her best secrets. What we experienced during five hours is not possible on your own. You must have your guide who knows all the places and have been there before. The food was the main... More

When i first present the idea to take this tour to my friends, they were not very convinced as we were in Istanbul for 3 nights only. Being foodie and willing experience new things, we finally booked this trip and yes it was one of the best things that happen to us during that trip to Istanbul. Turkish food is... More

We had a group of 7 do the Two Markets Two Continents Tour. Our guide Senem was engaging, knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The tour is a great way to discover the less touristy eateries on both sides of the Bosphorus. Senem also arranged to cater for a member of our group who had dietary restrictions. We ate and drank... Following a mention in the Sunday Times, we booked a walking tour. Easy to book and we had an unrivalled culinary and cultural experience of the back streets and Bazaar areas of Istanbul. Our guide Benoit was excellent, imparting his knowledge and passion for Turkish food and history. It was the highlight of our visit to Istanbul. My advice.... don't... More
