As a tourist it is often hard to meet sincere shop-owners who aren’t just making conversation to sell "something". With Gündüz this was not the case! Walking the Arasta Bazaar we stumbled upon Gündüz' little shop with traditional Turkish pottery. We were met by the warm and big smile of the man himself. Gündüz offered tea, advice and recommendations for... More

I had the chance to stop by ARASTA BAZAR next to the Blue Mosque after visiting Grand Bazar and find a very nice store for ceramics and handcrafts called ATA KUTAHYA! It was an amazing experience, they have beautiful tiles and ceramics in there and the shopkeeper Mr Gunduz Alp is a fantastic person, very nice and special person who... More

I'd found Jennifer's Hamam and an hour of unfolding piece upon piece...each more beautiful than the next...so many beautiful towels, scarves, robes and table cloths...I needed a few minutes break so I could go back with a clear head and decide on 4 or 5 instead of the 12 I'd selected. Ceramics are abundant in Istanbul, but stepping into ATA,... More

We looked up Tripadvisor before going to Istanbul and found ATA Kuthaya store and Guduz here on Tripadvisor. Of all the reviews we read, this was the most interesting. So we decided to visit this little shop and the shopkeep Gunduz Alp Gunes. When we arrived at the store we were greeted by the most kind and wonderful smile of... More

ATA Ceramic is a great shop in the Arasta Bazaar. The owner is most helpful in a pleasant, low-key way. This is a totally different experience than being badgered by shopboyz in the other bazaars. I bought several beautiful large coffee cups, Iznik design, as working mementos of Istanbul. The stock is complete enough to find the practical ceramics you... More

IZNIK Ceramic Kutahya, located in the Arasta Bazzar No: 125, just near the Blue mosque. Beautiful ceramics what a shame that I will be keeping all my give aways, but what I will be recommending to my family and friends is they visit this shop. Not only did I learn about the history and culture of Turkey but also got... More

Now this is a wonderful little shop with a wonderful shop keep by the name of Gundez Alp Gunes! We spent many an hour talking over a glass of tea with this lovely man! He would explain everything about his ceramic plates and then we'd talk about the world at large. There was NEVER one ounce of pressure, and he... More

This is the best shop in Arasta Bazaar for Ceramics. There is a lovely selection of tiles. The owner Mr Gunes is a genuinely nice person and will take the time to explain the different tiles to you. Prices are good. Stay for a glass of cherry tea which is delicious and have a chat with Mr Gunes - he... More

Having already contributed mightily to the Turkish economy, we dropped into this lovely little shop in Arasta Bazaar looking for one item we had seen on an earlier visit, but also to see again the friendliest of shopkeepers, Gunduz Alp Gunes, very informative and helpful two days earlier. We stayed much longer, enjoyed generous and sincere hospitality and attention, and... More

We went not once but twice to visit Ata Kutahya Ceramics at the Arasta Bazaar #125 in the Sultanahmet. While the ceramics are certainly fine, what we most enjoyed was time spent with Gunduz the shopkeeper. No pressure, good apple tea, and lots of conversation about the making of ceramics, the meaning of motifs, and the goodness of life (his... More
