This is a lovely area to stay, one is close to the trams, as well as the Aga Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapi, as well the Cistern. A perfect start for first-time visitors to this great city.

Old cobbled streets, the Blue Mosque, is spectacular. I took a private guide and spent time exploring Istanbul. One of the very attractive features is that all the major sites of interest are within walking distance of each other. If you roam around in Istanbul you would find that Turkish government has done a nice job in preserving its historical heritage. I would advise travelers to diversify their experience especially in turkey most of the mosques look alike probably they were designed by one designer. History that comes alive, mesmerizing art and culture, panoramic views, great shopping... and adorable cats everywhere : ) This was our second trip and each time, this city just takes my breath away. Sultanahmet gets my vote for the most atmospheric area to stay in, and it's close to many of the historical sites as well. We passed the Blue... More

Being from the west coast of the USA, seeing a building that is 100 years old amazes me, yet in Istanbul there are so many things that are hundreds or thousands of years old!

The history of Istanbul is so rich and worth doing the whole museum experience, but you also get a lot of the culture by just walking around.

I liked everything. Be choosey which Turkish Bath House you visit. You get what you pay for, best to go by your guide's recommendation.
