We booked private walking tour and had great time with our tour guide Mehmet Tetik. http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/guides/tetik_m.html He is very knowledgeable and has great understanding of Turkey past and present. The tour was obviously immaculately planned ahead of time based on few emails we exchanged, so we had packed two hours but at the same time we were not overwhelmed. We've... More

I joined the Classic Tour on my first day in Istanbul and we first went to visit the Aja Sofia. It was a very rainy day and was very crowded inside the building. Our guide suggested to take pictures and come back to the meeting point in 10minutes but then he "disappeared" outside with the group without waiting for me!... More

This is a tourist area Beyoglu, Taksim & Gezi Park, rather than a tourist attraction. I found it unsettling to see large numbers of police gathered around 2 water cannon carrying guns and arms that fire gas cannisters, it looked like a dangerous place to be and the police looked like they were ready to attack with brute force rather... This company receive a good reviews in trip advisor and I just don't understand why they hire this kind of guide. First, I waited for 1 1/2 hours in my hotel, 4 phone calls after, a lady come and fetch me to the hippodrome. The guide is of course Abdullah, my name is on the list of booked guest, he... More

This is the tour you need if you want to understand the different sites and the history of Istanbul. Yuke was a fantastic tour guide! We had left the hotel in the morning thinking we would discover the city on our own. Then on the Ring, we heard Yuke giving explanations to a group and asked to join them..... She... More

Our guide was lovely but I really did not like the mandatory stops at certain places in the bazaar particularly as it is not mentioned anywhere when you book the tour. The carpets and jewellery were gorgeous and but I was not in Istanbul to see them. I understand the city can be incredibly busy and it must be very... More

Istanbul is friendly city specialy the area at kadikoy near Bosphorus where there is bridge over this straight & you can walk on the bridge to cross from asia to europe as both continents are elevated by hills. you can see lots of sea gulls flying over the Bosphorus & take boat to cross this straight. Near this there is... More

This is truly the way to start out your first full day in Instabul. We recommend the full day tour. We were picked up at our hotel promptly and headed a short ride to be greeted by our guide. Yuke was our guide and did a fabulous job detailing every one of the sites on the agenda. Extremely knowledgeable and... More

Staying in Sisli

Neighborhood Profile
Sisli
For much of Istanbul’s history, Sisli and the area just north of Taksim Square were open countryside used mostly as hunting grounds. These days, Sisli and its chic streets are considered the very heart of contemporary Istanbuli life, where an epicenter of fashion and a thriving business district meet to create an expressly “downtown” feel. Though largely a residential neighborhood, luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and upscale shops abound with many of them situated inside or nearby Cevahir Istanbul, the biggest shopping mall in Europe and second biggest urban shopping mall in the world. Shopaholics and fashionistas travel from near and far to browse the area's mix of major global brand items and creations by popular Turkish designers.
