My overall rating of "average" is in fact an average of the opinion of my traveling companion and I. He would give "not worth it"; I "incredible". This was our fifth visit to Turkey with more than 5 months spent in the country. Mount Nemrut is in a remote and difficult-to-access area! While the roads at and around the sight... More

I did a 2 night / 3 day tour Mt. Nemrut Tour through Nese Tours which started in Goreme. I went with a tour - vs. self-guided - because it would have taken twice as long to see all the sights on my own using public transportation, albeit much cheaper. I took the last tour of the season (mid-October). Likes:... More

Getting there is not easy and is a journey. However, once you are there, it is rewarding. So there are actually two things to see while you are there: The sunrise and the statue remains. You MUST go there for the sunrise and you MUST bring a blanket or jacket to keep warm bc the winds up there are really... More

Somewhat off the beaten track in Southeastern Turkey is Mount Nemrut. The ride from Gaziantep took about 6 hours by bus....on the way we stopped to see an old Roman Bridge and then steadily climbed the mountains for outstanding views. When we finally reached our parking spot, the climb began. There is a small eating area here perfect for a... More

This was one of the highlights of my Turkey trip. Me and my girlfriend rented a car (maybe should have taken a tour) but we eventually made it up to the top of Nemrut later at night. We stayed in the last hotel at the top. Thankfully it was open. We were the only ones there. It wasn't the greatest,... More

We just returned from a 3 week trip throughout Turkey. One of the very high points of the trip was visiting Mt. Nemrut in eastern Turkey. Mt Nemrut is a fascinating lonely mountain that has many stone statues of kings and gods, as well as a high tumulus grave. The best time to visit Mt. Nemrut is at sunrise or... More

Walk up to the crater from Serinbayir village, in walking boots, and take water and a picnic. Pass the old Armenian church, all the way to the rim (approx 3 hours). Once there, sit and enjoy your picnic and the views of the hot and cold lakes. Walk the rim, fabulous opportunity for photographs of various rock types and flowers.... More

Wonderful place with wonderful people! Very extreme, a piece of the ancient times. Not so hard walking to the top, cca 500 meters long to 2000meters high. Look around, amazing! I suggest you to stay under the top, in the last Hotel on the way to Nemrut: Nemrut Kervansaray. It is a simply Hotel, and there is camping place, too.... More

Made the trip to Nemrut in June and was so glad I did it. Yes, it does take a while to get to as it's nowhere near the rest of the main tourist sites, but when you couple seeing Nemrut along with all the other interesting sites in the area, it really is a different part of Turkey that you... More

Although we read that the mountain is best viewed at sunset and sunrise when the light is good, we arrived early in the afternoon and decided to go up then. We arrived at the summit to find ourselves alone. The utter silence added to the experience. The sun was still fierce in early September, but a constant breeze kept us... More
