It's similar to a small souk area that has souvenirs shops and coffee shops. Small coffee shops also have sandwiches if you get hungry.

Looks ok, relatively speaking this is a good place, couple of nice restaturants but that is about it. Very few locals and mostly western oriented food

Well restored shopping area--went into a gem shop and one "gentleman" decided his store was better and followed us for the next 30 minutes trying to get us to follow him to who knows where. We finally got the folks at Odel to talk to him in Singhalese. He obviously didn't understand English or Afrikaans slang. Shops are a little... More

One of the best places to go out on a Friday night and then meet up with your friends/family for pre-drinks.

This area is lovely for a spot of shopping and perhaps a bite to eat. But do find get you hotel to write it down in Sinhala or the tuk tuk drivers just stare at you blankly or try to take you to the actual hospital like they did to us!

We loved the colonial style and grandeur of the Old Dutch Hospital. it was beautifully restored, and not has shops, cafes and bars in it. The inner court is an oasis in the busy city. Not to be missed on a tour of the fort area.

The Old Dutch Hospital is a very nice place for an evening meal, there is not many shops maybe 1 or 2 but a few nice restaurant's. We also went one Sunday evening and there was a good band playing outside the Taphouse which was very family friendly so we stayed for a few hours.
